Dear friends and partners,
In 2025, the Right Energy Partnership with Indigenous Peoples (REP) worked with Indigenous communities and allies to defend territories, highlight Indigenous Peoples led renewable energy systems, and push global climate and just transition discussions to recognize that there is no just energy transition without Indigenous Peoples.
Throughout the year, REP convened learning spaces and exchanges, including webinars and inter-learning exchange and visits to IP-led renewable energy initiatives, and supported research on innovation in climate and energy transitions that centers Indigenous and community-rooted solutions. REP also strengthened its library of publications and tools documenting Indigenous experiences with renewable energy, land rights, and corporate accountability.
REP carried these messages into global arenas such as the Asia Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development, UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, High Level Political Forum on the Sustainable Development Goals, the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of Parties 30, the UN Forum on Business and Human Rights, organizing and speaking at events that affirmed Indigenous Peoples as rights-holders and owners—not just beneficiaries—in renewable energy projects. REP also stood in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples struggles, from the Philippines, to Indonesia, to India to the Amazon resisting destructive dams and energy projects in their territories.
Thank you for standing with REP and Indigenous Peoples communities in 2025. Together, this work will continue in 2026, advancing Indigenous Peoples-led, rights-based energy transitions in policy, practice, and on the ground.
